The KŌSEI symbol began with 美, the Japanese kanji for beauty.

Its original form was gradually reinterpreted into something softer and more organic, reminiscent of a flower, a plant, perhaps even coral.

Forms found in nature, and in the landscape of Gili Air.

More than a graphic element, the symbol became an expression of the idea behind KŌSEI: beauty found in harmony, nature and imperfect forms.

Here, nature is never something you have to go looking for. It simply appears, often when you least expect it.

KŌSEI found its inspiration in many places.

It grew from years of living in Indonesia, and from the things that quietly stayed with us.

The warmth and kindness of its people.
The value given to simple, everyday moments.
A life lived close to nature, in all its strength and presence.

A way of life that feels instinctive.
Imperfect, tactile, alive.

These impressions became part of KŌSEI.
Not as something to recreate, but as something to carry with us.

In the materials we chose.
In the way light enters a space.
In our love for natural textures, simplicity and things made by hand.

Perhaps inspiration is simply this:

Swimming, crossing the island by boat, watching turtles drift beneath the surface.

The ocean is not simply part of the landscape.
It becomes part of the way you live.

Living so close to the sea changes the way you experience a place.

You begin to notice the light, the breeze, the changing colours of the water.
The small things that quietly become part of your days.

KŌSEI belongs to this landscape.
