- Indonesian architecture and Natural Building Materials
All plots come with a strict Building Code which outlines what can be built. This is to ensure continuity between neighbors but also consistency with the overall community concept.
We envision a tight community of affordable houses inspired by Indonesian architecture (i.e. joglos, gladaks, limasans…etc) and built with natural materials (i.e. wood, bamboo, adobe, mudbrick…etc). We don’t want large expensive contemporary concrete structures for a number of reasons.
All plots carry an obligation to build within a certain timeframe. This is to ensure the community does not remain a construction site for years to come, and provide some security for those first to build.
We subcontract our design works to a local team, very experienced in Selong Belanak and familiar with our Building Code. However we also have a bunch of predesigned and pre-priced modular prefabricated houses as this is most efficient and affordable method of designing a home.
However if you have an architect you want to work with, you’re under no obligation to design with us. We only ask, the architect adhere to the Building Code and has experience building on hillsides in South Lombok.
