In Bali, the veil thins again 🌺

Galungan and Kuningan are two of the island’s most sacred festivals – a time when ancestral spirits return to visit, and balance between worlds is restored.

For ten days, homes fill with offerings. Streets arch under penjor – tall bamboo poles dressed in coconut leaves and rice.

Temples echo with gongs and chants. Families reunite. The air smells of incense, banana leaves, and roast pork.

Galungan marks the triumph of dharma over adharma – the victory of good over evil.

Kuningan, ten days later, marks the spirits’ gentle return to the unseen world.

During these days, the island slows. The spirit world feels close.
