Temperatures are forecast to rise significantly over the coming days, with highs potentially reaching 31°C or even 32°C locally. There is even a chance that Ireland's all-time temperature record of 33.3°C could come under threat in a few locations on Wednesday and Thursday.

Maximum temperatures forecast:
�Monday – 28°C�
Tuesday – 32°C�
Wednesday – 29°C�
Thursday – 32°C

Temperatures are based on the high-resolution Harmonie model up to Tuesday, followed by the 00z ECMWF model thereafter.

☀️ CONTINENTAL AIR TO BRING HOT TEMPERATURES & HEATWAVE ACROSS IRELAND NEXT WEEK🌡️

Ireland is set to experience a very warm hot continental airmass next week as it moves up across the country. This airmass will start moving northwards, reaching Ireland on Sunday, and will settle over the country as temperatures rise throughout the week.

On Sunday, we can expect temperatures in the low 20s for most of Ireland, climbing into the mid 20s by Monday.

For Tuesday and Wednesday, the mid 20s will prevail, especially in the southern half , while the northwest and northern coastal counties may see temperatures closer to the low 20s due to onshore breezes.

Latest weather model updates show that temperatures will become even warmer on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, potentially reaching the high 20s and low 30s. The northwest will also experience very warm or hot conditions as we finish the week.

As high heat develops, there are signals that some thunderstorms could form and potentially be severe by the end of the week. However, details will become clearer as we approach the end of next week.

High temperature warnings are likely to be issued for the latter half of the week, with overnight temperatures possibly remaining in the high teens or lower 20s in some areas. Expect nights to become uncomfortably hot and humid.

There’s been a developing trend over the past number of days which points towards a spell of very settled weather across Ireland commencing on Saturday and persisting well into next week at least.

As high pressure develops skies will clear and long spells of sunshine are likely to develop this weekend and through the majority of next week, which along with light winds will allow temperatures to rise.

Those temperatures over the weekend will reach into the low 20’s in some parts by Sunday. But next week could see a plume of exceptionally hot air arrive from the continent with values into the high 20’s.

There are even some weather models this morning, the UKMO and later in the week the ECMWF which show the possibility of temperatures in Ireland pushing towards 31 or 32 and even 33 degrees Celsius.

It’s a little early to fully determine whether temperatures pushing close to the all time Irish record of 33.3 degrees Celsius could develop, but a spell of much warmer and drier weather seems inevitable.
