The Tech Visa is a natural progression of the StartUp Visa as after the government attracts foreign businesses into the country (and, as a result, into the European Union), it seems logical to offer opportunities to those businesses to bring more skilled individuals to work with them as well. On the other hand, Portugal Golden Visa is a national program designed for investors and people with high net worth from outside the EU wanting to live and invest in the country.

A similar record was also witnessed in December 2020 when the country was grappling with the novel Coronavirus pandemic that was at its peak globally.
However, a new milestone was recorded in May 2021 as SEF approved the first-ever EUR 250,000 cultural heritage investment, leaving the Scientific research contribution and the only unused category.

Portugal’s Golden Visa Program performed incredibly great in the first two months of 2021, giving a renewed hope for groundbreaking achievements somewhere in the third quarter. The two-month success could be attributed to the ongoing rebound in Chinese uptake that has been on a flopping trend since 2015. Even though it might be early to conclude this year’s performance, the incredible performance in the first two months is a good start towards achieving the 10,000 investor milestone in the third quarter. And with the situation shifting in favour of Portugal’s investment visa program, more impressive performance is expected in the future.

Many of the Portugal Golden Visa inland areas are off the tourist map and as such might be more suited to people wanting to retire and live in Portugal rather than invest in a property for rental income. However, there are some Portugal low-density municipalities, counties and parishes that are deservedly popular with tourists and so would represent a fantastic investment. Three are particularly worth mentioning: Peneda Geres, Douro Valley and Aljezur.
