The hedgerows of **le Peninsula are alive with flowering Hawthorn or trees this week. In folklore the flowers from early May into June announced the arrival of summer. People associated the with fairies and were afraid to cut them down. It is an important species in our hedgerows for sheltering birds and other wildlife.
