The Irish Working Class need to come together as we have before in a militant All Ireland campaign to Smash Landlordism and drive imperialist vultures from our country.

This is the issue the working class can unite on against clear common enemies and is a campaign that although will be protracted, it can be won.

The exploitative nature of the for profit rent system in Ireland is exposed in the cases of 4 student accommodation managed by US Multinational Hines, that brought in a combined profit of €19 Million from 1,400 apartments.

The student accommodation are owned by German Pension Funds who use Hines to manage the properties giving them a share of the profits, and use shelf companies with no employees registered in Luxembourg for tax profits to ensure they can generate the most profit. The German and US Imperialists are profiting directly from the exploitation of our people through the deliberate housing crisis.

Instead of homes being provided for families, these imperialist vultures make their profits by exploiting the student housing market and so thousands of housing units across Dublin and beyond are not available to alleviate the artificial housing shortage that imperialist vultures and landlords have created and maintained to drive rents up and maximise profits.

The Irish People need to rise up against landlords and imperialist housing vultures and instead implement the Republican policy of Universal Social Housing.

Universal Social Housing will provide suitable housing for All Citizens whether they are families, workers or students and rents will be based on ability to pay, not profit.

Ireland doesn’t need anymore imperial owned student accommodation or hotels. We need homes for our families and communities!

The criminals in Leinster House and stormont will never act to address the housing crisis because the majority of them or their closest families and friends profit from Landlordism or serving the imperialist housing vultures.

Housing is a key part of the Republican struggle for National Liberation and Socialist Revolution in Ireland.

Housing is one of the key pressure points in the class struggle in Ireland today, due to the artificial housing crisis created by those in power, designed at driving up profits for landlords and imperialist housing vultures.

Since the days of Tone, Irish Republicans have recognised that land and housing are completely tied to the fight for freedom, and today it is by showing the Republican struggle will solve the land and housing issue once and for all, to the benefit of the working class, that Republicans can mobilise our class to join the fight.

There should be no doubt about the Republican position on housing. The 1916 Proclamation stated that ‘the ownership of Ireland by the People of Ireland’. The Democratic Programme placed public right above private property and stated, It shall be the first duty of the Government of the Republic to make provision … to secure that no child shall suffer hunger or cold from lack of food, clothing, or shelter’.

Landlords and foreign imperialist housing vultures have no place in the Republican vision of a Free Ireland, where homes would be provided by the Republic to all Citizens.

AIA advocates a system of Universal Social Housing as the Republican Housing System that guarantees all citizens a home, and rents based on ability to pay. This system is the death knell for landlords and vultures and it is why the garrison class resists it.

AIA has played a leading roll in the militant housing direct actions of recent years and will continue to do so.

It is only through Revolutionary Action that the artificial housing crisis can be resolved, that imperialist housing vultures can be driven out and private landlords can become a thing of the past.

Republicans in Dún Laoghaire are campaigning against the scourge of Landlordism and for Universal Social Housing.

AIA’s Coiste Gal Gréinne have been taking part in a slogan writing campaign against Landlordism across the area.

Housing is one of the key issues facing the Irish Working Class. As Connolly wrote in 1899, the housing question can never be solved while private landlords control our housing stock. Like Connolly, AIA advocates a System of Universal Social Housing to Smash Landlordism and give every citizen a home of their own.

It was Connolly’s position. It was the Revolutionary Dáil’s position. It is Our Position.

As Dublin Republicans continue to promote Universal Social Housing this quote from James Connolly highlighting that housing can only be solved when citizens own our city, was spotted off Capel St.

The 1919 Democratic Programme of the Dáil Éireann, promotes the idea of Universal Social Housing by arguing ‘all right to private property must be subordinated to the public right and welfare’, and that it would be the first duty of the Republican Government to ensure ‘that no child shall suffer hunger or cold from lack of food, clothing, or shelter.’

The for profit landlord system is a alien system to Ireland, imposed by British Imperialism, to keep our people in subjugation.

Universal Social Housing is the Republican Housing System that gives life to the vision of the Democratic Programme and the 1916 Proclamation.

Activists from South Leinster Revolutionary Housing League RHL, joined up with other housing activists from across Co. Wexford at the CYM organised Housing demonstration at the Bullring in the centre of Wexford town yesterday Saturday 17.

Before the rally kicked off RHL activists dropped a Banner from the Archway into the Bullring market. Which read - Fight the Housing Crisis.

The chair then led chants demanding Homes for All and Connollys famous song and qoute "We only want the earth" before introducing speakers from the groups present.

The chants and speeches caught the feelings of the locals who joined in and applauded as they passed.

UAR activist Jimi Cullen then finished the day with his new song "Homes For All".

The Revolutionary Housing League is building a presence across Wexford and will be working closely with Housing Activists across South Leinster. Its time we unite and build a movement to smash the capitalist cartel of greedy landlords and greedy politicians who back them up.
