One of the biggest points of confusion for Irish teachers? Garda Vetting vs a Police Certificate. They’re not the same document, and “Garda clearance” isn’t something you can simply apply for yourself for an overseas teaching job.

Did you know your TEFL course could be funded? 👀🇮🇪

If you’re unemployed, working reduced hours, changing careers, a recent graduate or returning to work, you may be eligible for support towards your training.

Through the Training Support Grant (TSG), eligible applicants may be able to receive up to €1,000 per year towards short-term training designed to improve employment prospects.

And yes, eligible learners may be able to use this funding towards a TEFL course, helping you gain skills to pursue opportunities teaching English online or abroad. 🌍✈️

From marketing in Cork to teaching in Thailand 🇹🇭✨

We’re so excited to see our former intern Emily McCarthy featured in The Irish Times, sharing the story of how she took a chance on something completely different and ended up teaching English in Thailand.

After spotting one space left on our Thailand intake, Emily decided to go for it, giving herself just two months to prepare for a move across the world!

Now she’s teaching in a secondary school, travelling, experiencing life in Thailand and building skills she knows she’ll take with her into the future 🌏

As Emily puts it, she’s “so glad” she made the decision, and seeing her students grow in confidence has been one of the most rewarding parts.

Such a brilliant reminder that your degree doesn’t have to decide your entire path. Sometimes taking the chance to do something completely different can lead somewhere pretty amazing 💚
