STONE MASTIC ASPHALT (SMA)
Stone Mastic Asphalt consists of a single sized stone skeleton which is bound together by a โmasticโ (bituminous cement) consisting of crushed rock fines, filler (lime), bitumen and a modifier to thicken the mastic. This special mix when laid demonstrates properties of high durability, high resistance to deformation, resistan
ce to cracking and damage by moisture. HOT ROLLED ASPHALT
Hot Rolled Asphalt (HRA) takes the form of a bituminous bound mortar consisting of fine aggregate, filler, sand and a high % by weight, bitumen content of approximately 8%. Pre-coated high PSV chippings are spread over the top of this bituminous mortar in a separate process using a chipping spreader and then rolled into the layer using a steel barrelled roller forming the finished HRA surface. BITMAC
Manufactured from continuously graded aggregates and bound with penetration grade bitumen (4%-6%). The material gains its strength from the interlocking stone particles of various sizes. This material can be used in all layers of road construction from road bases to surface courses. Contact Stephen/Seamus for a free competitive quotation
