With its incomparable heritage gardens and long history, Kilmokea is hard to fault. Mark and Emma could not be more gracious, welcoming and so very helpful, they somehow find time to bring up three young children and run a cafe and craft shop here as well. Bedrooms in the main house are in relaxed good taste: thick carpets, lovely beds, smart antiques, delicate fabrics to match their floral names. Two in the converted courtyard suite are simpler but just as inviting. In the evening guests meet over a drink and your hosts make sure everyone is introduced before sitting down in the formal Regency dining room at separate tables. Many ingredients come from the organic walled kitchen garden, eggs from hens that graze the pretty apple orchard: integral parts of Kilmokea's chemical-free botanical treat. The gardens cover seven acres, peacocks strut by the Italian loggia, paths and bridges lead past a trout lake to a hide whence you can watch coastal birds swoop over the estuary. Plus the heated pool, gym, jacuzzi, sauna. We welcome you one and all to this remarkable oasis.

We are so grateful to you all for your gorgeous comments in the visitors book and for sharing your conversations about how you feel when you are in gardens.
The word PEACE was shared over and over again.
This is why we share our garden with so many people.
Meanwhile.... We are incredibly grateful for the rain🌦️ which has saved the garden. Thank you🧡.
Work continues in the garden to nurture it through out autumn and winter to welcome you back in the spring 💚

A heartfelt farewell to the 2026 season🙏

As we come to the end of another wonderful season at Kilmokea, we would like to let you know that Kilmokea Gardens and Café will close for the 2026 season on Sunday, 30th August.

What a season it has been. As we look towards the next chapter for Kilmokea, we want to take a moment to express our enormous gratitude to every single person who has visited us this year.

To our garden visitors, café guests, returning friends, families, walkers, explorers and everyone who has shared a little part of their day with us — thank you. Your support, kindness and enthusiasm mean more to us than we can put into words. Every visit, conversation, cup of coffee, wander through the gardens and moment spent here has helped make Kilmokea what it is.

We are now looking ahead with great excitement to Easter 2027, when we will open our gates once again and begin a new season with exciting new beginnings and fresh possibilities for Kilmokea.

There is much to look forward to, and we cannot wait to share what comes next with you.

Until then, thank you for being part of the Kilmokea story. We wish you a wonderful autumn and winter, and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2027.

An eclipse is a beautiful invitation to pause, realign, release, and consciously choose what we’re ready to create.

Setting a figure-of-eight (∞) intention can be a powerful energetic practice for finding balance between what you’re ready to let go of and what you wish to manifest.

As August unfolds, we arrive at the mystical threshold of the Lion’s Gate Portal — traditionally associated with the alignment of the Sun in Leo, the Earth and Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky.

For the ancient Egyptians, Sirius held profound spiritual significance, often associated with renewal, rebirth and the beginning of a new cycle.

And here at Kilmokea Country Manor & Gardens, surrounded by ancient woodland, flowing water, walled gardens and spaces created for quiet reflection, it feels like the perfect place to pause at this symbolic doorway. 🌿✨

The 8th of August marks the heart of summer — a moment to reflect on what has blossomed, what is ready to be released, and what we wish to cultivate next.

As the Lion’s Gate opens, we have arrived at  12 August, when the skies bring another extraordinary moment of transformation: a spectacular solar eclipse passing across our skies.
