🏡 Ireland’s property market is shifting.

More homebuyers are choosing move-in ready homes over fixer-uppers as rising renovation costs and a shortage of skilled tradespeople make upgrading properties less appealing, according to the latest REA Average House Price Survey in today’s Irish Independent.

📊 The latest REA figures also show house price growth is beginning to slow, with the average price of a three-bed semi-detached home rising by just 0.9% in the second quarter—the first time quarterly growth has fallen below 1% in over two years.

“This quarter we have mainly seen activity at the upper end of the market,” said Seamus Carthy of REA Seamus Carthy.

“We have not seen any extra supply from landlord sales, and this may be a result of termination dates not being reached yet.

“Overall, it has been a busy quarter with higher end properties suppling most of our sales.
While turnkey homes are selling quickly, properties in need of renovation are taking longer to attract buyers. For those willing to take on a project, renovation grants of up to €70,000 are still available.
