🔴Urgent weather advisory: Storm Isha🔴
Dear students & staff,
Due to the red weather warning in effect for our region, we strongly urge all students and staff to exercise caution and use their discretion when considering travel to the university. In light of the hazardous conditions expected this evening, we strongly advise against unnecessary travel. Your safety is our top priority, and we want to ensure that everyone takes necessary precautions to avoid any potential risks associated with the severe weather.
Campuses, with the exception of St Angela's, will open as scheduled. However, please be aware that St Angela's Campus will experience a delayed opening and will not be accessible until 11 am tomorrow, Monday, 22nd January. This decision has been made to allow for the assessment and mitigation of any potential weather-related risks.
We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions throughout the region and will update you with any changes.

Statement from IT Sligo on Storm Eunice
Due to the extreme nature of Storm Eunice and the threat of multi-hazard weather events as confirmed by Met Éireann, the Department of Education is advising that schools and Further and Higher Educational Institutes in counties where Status Orange Snow warnings are in place should not open tomorrow 18th of February. As a result of this advice, IT Sligo will close its campus tomorrow, Friday 18th of February.

Classes already scheduled for online students should go ahead as planned.

Where possible planned on campus classes will be delivered remotely. Lecturers will advise students by email if remote classes are to occur.

However, you will appreciate that it is possible that individual lecturers teaching remotely from home may experience broadband issues owing to the storm so please keep an eye on your email.

Status orange snow warnings have issued for counties:

• Donegal
• Mayo
• Sligo
• Leitrim
• Roscommon

Met Éireann has advised that this is a multi-hazard event with wind and heavy snow. Storm Eunice will bring heavy sleet and snow leading to blizzard-like conditions in parts with treacherous driving conditions. The storm is expected to impact most during school commuting hours and this will make journeys to school extremely hazardous in the morning in those areas.

Please take care.
