Heading to college this year?

Whether you’re a first-year or returning student, make sure your search for accommodation doesn’t turn into a costly mistake.

Rental scams are on the rise – especially in August and September – when students are under pressure to find a place to live. Scammers know this and are ready to take advantage.

🚩 Watch out for red flags like:

🔹 Landlords who say they’re “away” and can’t show the property
🔹 Requests for deposits before viewing anything
🔹 Fake contracts or keys
🔹 Unsolicited messages offering rooms

✅ Protect yourself by:

✔️ Viewing the property in person before paying anything
✔️ Getting a written lease & receipt for any money paid
✔️ Using secure payment methods – never pay in cash
✔️ Double-checking the address and rent prices online

💥 If it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.
