Ryanair announces €50m Shannon Airport expansion ✈️🛬🛫
Ryanair has submitted plans for a €50 million investment at Shannon Airport to build a new four-bay aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangar and Engineering Academy.
The project will create over 400 jobs, including 80 apprenticeships, and train more than 400 aircraft mechanics between 2027 and 2031. It will become Ryanair’s largest maintenance facility in Ireland, expanding on its existing three-bay hangar that already supports over 200 skilled roles.
Subject to planning approval, construction is due to start in early 2027 with the facility opening in late 2028. The investment is backed by Enterprise Ireland.
Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson called it a project focused on “jobs, skills and growth,” while Shannon Airport Group CEO Ray O’Driscoll described it as a strong endorsement of the region’s aviation cluster.
