The Karnataka cabinet has given the green light to Bengaluru’s first tunnel road project, marking a significant milestone in the city's infrastructure development. With an estimated cost of ₹12,690 crore, this ambitious project aims to alleviate the notorious traffic woes of Bengaluru.

Key Highlights:
🔸 18 km Twin-Tube Corridor: The project’s first phase will connect Hebbal Flyover to Central Silk Board Junction, featuring five strategically placed entry/exit points.

🔸 Public-Private Partnership: The project will be executed through a public-private partnership, with land acquisition planned in key areas, including parts of the Turf Club, Golf Course, and Bangalore Palace premises.

🔸 250-Metre Sky Deck: Alongside the tunnel, a 250-metre sky deck, offering a panoramic view of the city, has also been approved at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore.

🔸 Innovative Infrastructure: LED streetlamps will replace conventional bulbs to save ₹300 crore annually, and 52 new Indira Canteens will be set up to serve Bengaluru’s newly created wards.

This landmark initiative, championed by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, underscores the government’s commitment to addressing Bengaluru’s traffic challenges while enhancing the city’s infrastructure.
