Chikballapur is a town in Karnataka, located within 3 kilometers of Muddenahalli and 58.5 kilometers north of Bangalore. It encompasses 6 taluks - Bagepalli, Chikballapura, Chintamani, Gudibande, Gowaribidanur and Shiddalgatta. The area is surrounded by five hills namely Nandi Giri, Chandra Giri, Brahma Giri, Hema Giri and Indra Giri.
Chikballapur is famous for its silk industry and is also known as transportation hub with a major bus terminus and train station headquartered here.
Connectivity
The north-south 6-lane NH 7 as well as the east-west NH 234 (previously known as State Highway 58) pass through Chikballapur. The area is served by KSRTC buses running regularly between Bangalore and Chikballapur. There is also a passenger rail connection between Bangalore and Chikballapur. In addition, this locality houses bus headquarters, a railway station, and is the point of origin of several national highways.
