🚧 A major change is coming to North Goa’s daily commute.
The Porvorim Elevated Corridor, one of Goa’s biggest road infrastructure projects, is nearing its opening on NH-66.
The 5.15-km, six-lane elevated corridor is expected to significantly ease congestion along the busy Porvorim stretch and improve connectivity between the Mapusa and Panaji sides. PWD estimates indicate that the peak-hour journey between Mapusa and Panaji could come down from around 40 minutes to approximately 10 minutes once motorists use the elevated route.
The corridor passes through an important North Goa belt, with connectivity implications for Porvorim, Sangolda, Salvador do Mundo, Pilerne, Guirim and Mapusa.
The project has been sanctioned at an estimated ₹641.46 crore and is designed to carry a substantial volume of daily traffic. It is scheduled to be inaugurated on September 9, with vehicular traffic expected to begin from September 11.
For thousands of people who travel through this stretch every day, the real question is simple:
Could a journey that once took 40 minutes soon take just 10?
North Goa is about to find out. đźš—
