More realty space on Metro route soon

: Even as work on the 28-km - link is slated to begin in March this year, a proposal made in 2013 to allow more realty space along all corridors could be notified by the state government at the same time.

: The (DMRC) has finally kicked off the - Metro link project, more than three months after it inked an MoU with authorities of the twin cities.
The DMRC on Friday started work on soil testing for putting the 28-km Noida-Greater Noida Metro route on track, officials told TOI.
For soil testing, sampling is being done near the site of the proposed Metro station located between and as well as near the petrol pump of Sector -1 in Greater Noida.
Soil samples are being collected from as deep as 120 feet; soil tests are important because the Metro line would be elevated and constructed on pillars, and this work will be completed within the next 15 days, the officials said.
With nearly 3,000 trees falling in the path of the Metro corridor, the Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) has also launched a survey to ascertain the exact number of trees, which need shifting or relocating.
The move follows DMRC's application to 's conservator of forest, requesting for clearances for the operation. So far an application for approval to shift 72 trees has been received by the department. Trees in the route of the track will be shifted or relocated as per norms, the officials said.
The Rs 5,500-crore route is proposed to have Sector 71 as its originating station, while the last station in Greater Noida will be . The track will have a total 21 stations, of which some will be constructed on ground while other stations will be elevated.
Two stations at Knowledge Park-I and Sector Delta-1 in Greater Noida are planned for future expansion. It will enter Greater Noida through -II and traverse Pari Chowk, Sector-Alpha 1 and 2, before terminating at depot station proposed near recreational green, Knowledge Park-IV in Greater Noida.

The Chief Minister is also understood to have held meetings with chief executives of key IT players and is reported to have stated that his government is fully committed to boosting up the state’s infrastructure and the allocations made in the state’s budget are proof of that commitment.

A new stadium is coming up at Greater Noida, built by the . Officials confirm that once it gets completed, it may very well host a few Indian Premier League matches.
Rajiv Shukla, the Secretary and VP of Cricket Association revealed that Kanpur will no longer hold any IPL matches in the future and the games will thus be shifted to the Jaypee Group stadium, scheduled to be completed by next year. He said that the Green Park stadium in Kanpur will not be allotted IPL games, since it lacks most of the infrastructure requirements when compared to other venues hosting IPL matches. Instead, the stadium will only host .
Sources reveal that Greater Noida has hit the limelight after successfully hosting the first Formula One event in the country and hence there are high hopes of the new , which is quite close to the Buddh International Circuit. An official from the Jaypee Group revealed that the pitch is already ready, but they are working on the stadium and other allied infrastructures.
According to an insider, the stadium is being built in accordance with the guidelines laid down by ICC and will initially have a seating capacity of 40,000, which will later be increased to 1,00,000. Some claim that the proximity to the national capital and high-end hotels in the area has helped Greater Noida stadium become one of the top priorities.
