Inspired from the sinous curved forms and raw texture of the lunar landscape, the Moon House is part of a trilogy of three houses located in the northern tropical seaside state Goa in western India. The design for the Moon House was inspired to bridge the feel of Tropical Moernits like Bawa with the fluid and dynamic lines like of Zaha Hadid , so that the architecture of the house is constantly shifting and shaping between nature and space allowing it to blend seamlessly with its surroundings.

Every element in our projects emphasises a bespoke living experience in function and aesthetic. True to its name, Moon House, features fluid, interconnected sections that orbit around a central crescent shaped pool. A particular focus on the interplay of light and shadow is amplified by grey scale materials such as metal and slate. This in conjunction with the deep emerald foliage of its tropical surroundings make this home a surreal study in the balance of astral and organic architecture.

“The aesthetic of Geoffrey Bawa plays a pivotal role in our design, exemplified by the overarching theme of Tropical Modernism evident throughout the house. We empowered a local workforce, enabling them to work with familiar materials in novel formats, resulting in sculptural walls, double-height ceiling installations, and precision flooring and lighting. Aluminum strips were used for all expansion joints, creating geometric symmetry and distinguishing between various levels, or “layers” as we prefer to call them. We incorporated the use of Ecotect software to meticulously track sun and wind patterns, allowing us to plan the play of natural light and its accompanying shadows. The Moon House boasts pioneering Schüco doors and windows, marking their debut in India. My admiration for Laurie Baker, celebrated for his endeavors in cost-effective, energy-efficient architecture that optimizes space, ventilation, and natural light, greatly influenced me.”
