Building stronger bridges between academia, entrepreneurship and capital.

India Accelerator has entered into a new collaboration with BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, through the BITS Goa Innovation Incubation Entrepreneurship Society (BGIIES).

The collaboration aims to create stronger pathways for students, founders and innovators to access mentorship, technical expertise, industry networks, capital and opportunities to build and scale.

The partnership will explore initiatives across GenAI, Sustainability, CleanTech, Electric Mobility, Robotics & Unmanned Systems, Healthcare and Consumer Tech, alongside entrepreneurship programmes, startup demo days, internships, angel investing and knowledge-sharing.

At its core, this collaboration brings together three forces that can meaningfully shape the startup ecosystem:

Academic curiosity.
Entrepreneurial ambition.
Access to capital.

The next phase is about turning that convergence into meaningful opportunities for founders, students and innovators.

The Northeast is building. India Accelerator is stepping in.

India Accelerator has signed an MoU with Startup Assam during the launch of the North-East Seva First Innovation Challenge 2026, in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

As part of the collaboration, India Accelerator will establish a dedicated fund pool for startups from the Northeast and run programs to accelerate their growth with support from Startup Assam.

Our expansion into Guwahati marks the beginning of a deeper engagement with the region’s founders, innovators and emerging businesses. The intent is simple: discover promising founders, back them with capital, and connect them to the larger India Accelerator ecosystem, enabling businesses from the Northeast to build locally and scale nationally.

With over 34 years of experience across international trade, finance, distribution, and land development, Gautam currently serves as Managing Partner & Chief Growth Officer at Lawyered, India’s first legal-tech discovery platform, where he leads strategic partnerships and growth to make legal services more accessible and affordable.

His journey includes founding Fusion Intrades, a multi-sector international trading and distribution company within the century-old Saraf Group, and spending over two decades as CEO – International Division at Narayan International. He pioneered the introduction of global brands such as Shanghai Wingsung Pen Co. and Shanghai Hero Pen Co. to India, building a nationwide distribution network with multi-million-dollar turnovers.

He also founded India’s first ISO-certified medical tourism company and has been an active angel investor since 2021, including as part of the India Accelerator investor community.

Gautam will mentor startups on business strategy, growth and GTM, strategic partnerships, distribution, and international expansion, bringing valuable insights to founders building across sectors.

The best startup lessons don’t always come from stages. Sometimes, they come from sitting around a table with people who have actually built.

The 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 brought together 35+ 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘩𝘪-𝘕𝘊𝘙 for an honest conversation with Ankit Mehrotra, CFA, Co-founder of Dineout and The Medical Travel Company.

And it was a full house.

From building and scaling teams to hiring, pivoting, fundraising and eventually navigating an exit, Ankit shared lessons from his journey, the decisions that worked, the ones that didn’t, and what he would do differently today.

What made the evening particularly valuable was the room itself. Founders weren’t just listening; they were questioning, challenging and sharing their own experiences.

No presentations. No pitches. Just an open conversation between founders and an operator who has been through the journey himself.

IA, in collaboration with Build Circle is all set to organize Build & Ship at our Chandigarh center on 12 September, in partnership with Softgear Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Some of the biggest names in tech started exactly this way. GroupMe was built overnight at a hackathon and was acquired by Skype within a year. Carousell began at a 54 hour Startup Weekend and was valued at $1.1 billion nine years later.

Not every hackathon project turns into a company, but every idea gets a lot more interesting once you actually build it. That’s what this sprint is for.
