Supertech's Twin Towers in Noida were an engineering marvel, and trust me their demolition was no less than a feat! The illegal twin towers finally got demolished on sunday 28th august at 2:30 pm after the Supreme court's order.
No demolition of this scale has ever been done before in india. Tower 1 called Apex was 103 metres or 32 flrs tall and tower 2 Ceyane was 94 metres or 31 flrs tall. These illegal towers were brought down in only 9 seconds, using the complex Waterfall Implosion method, which means the towers were made to fall inwards without harming the neighborhood. This demolition was even harder because the closest habitable building was only 9 metres away.
The explosives loaded on the floors were triggered from the bottom to the top at a gap of 1 second, which got the floors to collapse in a series. 3700 kgs of explosives were used to this demolition!
The implosion has been designed by explosives expert Joe Brinkmann.
The explosives will be triggered over nine seconds and the towers are expected to fall in 15 seconds.
This is a good lesson for any developer thinking they can build whatever they want without proper permissions.
