Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit related to Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) and associated projects:
Key Points of the Visit
Aerial survey of Dholera SIR: The PM flew over Dholera to review the progress of infrastructure development in the Special Investment Region.
Focus on Greenfield Industrial City: Dholera SIR is being developed as a greenfield industrial city with smart infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities, expressways, airport, etc. The goal is large‑scale industrialization, investment, sustainable growth.
What Has Already Been Done in Dholera SIR
Expressway: The Ahmedabad‑Dholera Expressway is nearly complete (about 95% done). This will improve connectivity significantly.
Infrastructure: Roads, underground utilities, ICT infrastructure, water treatment, sewage treatment, and effluent treatment plants are in advanced stages. A solar park (300 MW) is also operational.
Social infrastructure: Facilities like a hospital (192 beds), a school up to class 12, a fire station, residential facilities for investors are being built. Airport development is also underway including cargo and passenger terminals.
Significance & Vision
Economic & Investment Potential: Dholera SIR is being positioned as a hub for industry, semiconductors, high‑tech manufacturing, etc. It is expected to attract both national and international businesses.
Smart City Features: Emphasis on planned infrastructure, sustainability, renewable energy use (solar power), modern amenities. The intent is to make it globally competitive.
Timeline & Monitoring: The PM’s visit functions also as a review and push to ensure timely completion of projects.
