Discriminatory Politics of Deprivation and the Question of Self-Determination in the North-East A Fearless Call for the Indigenous Struggle

The North-East is no longer merely a picturesque geography of geopolitical diversity; it has become a continuous battleground of relentless exploitation, constitutional betrayal, and the erasure of indigenous existence. From lower to upper regions, from plains to hills—the political play with our native rights and the birthright of the sons of the soil is not only unacceptable but a deep social and historical outrage.

When the sharp blow of outside capitalists falls upon the land of the natives through loopholes in rules, when the constitutional protection of tribal autonomy is crushed for party political gains, and when the educational and social future of our vast youth generation is reduced to mere pawns in political ballot boxes—remaining a silent spectator is not just cowardice, but an ultimate betrayal of our historical identity!

We do not want politics of flattery wrapped in false promises! We demand the undeniable birthright of the natives over their own land, the integral protection of constitutionally granted tribal autonomy, and the eternal uniqueness of our language, literature, and militant culture.

Our Fearless Questions / Demands :
• Land Rights : The ancestral homeland and land rights of the indigenous people are not a matter of mercy or political charity; it is our sacred birthright. Every political circle trying to turn native land into a capitalist market will be resisted.
• Tribal Autonomy : Our legal, intellectual, and street struggles against the machinations aiming to erase the distinct administrative status and historical identity of tribal society will become even more fierce.
• Intellectual Revolution and Youth Power : Change will not come through meaningless protests alone. Through legal awareness, ideological firmness, and the revolutionary development of education, the youth must lead social reform.

We need a militant synthesis of thought and action. Our goal is clear, and our struggle is long-term. There is no room for compromise in this journey for indigenous dignity, rights, and self-determination!

Hagrama Administration's Anti-People Land Policy A Cruel Cycle of Financial Exploitation on Indigenous People

The new land policy implemented by the current BTC administration under the leadership of Hagrama Mohilary has brought a terrifying financial crisis into the lives of the proud sons of the soil and common citizens of the Northeast. Impractical measures—such as charging 25,000 rupees to regularize a bigha of land in rural areas and levying a 100 percent tax on land with RCC buildings in urban areas—have exposed the anti-people character of the administration. Furthermore, the promise of nominal concessions for ST, SC, disabled, and widows cannot hide the cruelty of this predatory policy. This government conspiracy, which forces ordinary people to pay up to crores of rupees just to save their ancestral homesteads, will never be accepted. This tyrannical policy of snatching away the rights of the indigenous people must be withdrawn immediately; otherwise, the conscious youth and public of the Northeast will be forced to build a devastating mass movement against it.

Trafficking of elephants from the heart of Manas by the Forest Department is not just an attack on nature, but a direct challenge to our very existence!

The conserved biodiversity and forest resources of the World Heritage Site, Manas National Park, have preserved the pride of our Northeast to this day. But it is a matter of great regret that those who were supposed to be the guardians of forests and wildlife, under the very supervision of that Forest Department, are now engaging in despicable acts like trafficking elephants from the heart of Manas to outside the state.

The incident captured on camera, showing elephants being secretly transported in a truck bearing registration number DD 01 A 9525 from the Bansbari Range, proves that a corrupt nexus within the department has been trading the precious wildlife of Manas for personal gains. This is not only a blatant violation of wildlife protection laws, but a direct betrayal of our land, foundation, and nature.

As a responsible tribal youth leader, a regionally conscious citizen, and a researcher, I strongly and unequivocally condemn this reprehensible act. Any conspiracy to destroy this invaluable heritage of the Northeast, deeply rooted in the memories of our ancestors, will not be allowed to succeed as long as we live.

​It would be wise for the forest department and the government to promptly expose and make public the masterminds behind this trafficking; otherwise, the streets of Assam will tremble in protest for the protection of Manas’ wildlife. Do not test the patience of the public and nature lovers—our nature, our elephants, and our pride must remain safe in our own hands!

The brutal murder of Sontham Vikram Singh, a talented music teacher and guitarist from Manipur, in Delhi’s Kilokri village is not a mere ordinary crime—it is a naked reflection of the deeply rooted racist mindset in our society and the extreme apathy of the administration. The fact that an artist had to lose his life for raising his voice against lawlessness near his home has once again exposed the terrifying insecurity regarding the safety and existence of North-East citizens in Delhi.

If the very city that shows the dream of a future to thousands of our youth is unsafe for us, what is the meaning of this so-called mainstream security? Merely arresting a few individuals cannot heal this deep social wound.

On behalf of the conscious youth society, student movements, and intellectual platforms of the North-East, we strongly condemn this heinous murder and register our highest protest. Our clear demand is that the culprits be given the strictest possible punishment swiftly, so that no other Vikram Singh has to embrace such an untimely death in the future.

The time to break our silence has arrived. Our militant and intellectual voices will always remain at their highest against this injustice and racist mindset.

The Immense Contribution of Teachers and Mentors in the Long-term Struggle for the Pride, Intellectual Elevation, Indigenous Identity, and Nation-Building of the North-East A Document of Historical, Social, and Intellectual Accountability

At a time when the geopolitical, social, cultural, and economic existence of our beloved North-East is passing through an extremely complex, sensitive, and historical crossroads, having the courage to speak openly for the rights of indigenous tribes, land security, self-governance, and greater nationalist interests is not merely a social or political responsibility—it is a sacred historical duty for each and every one of us. Lately, when I—Jintu Patgiri, a committed youth leader of the North-East, an active activist of the youth-student movement, a tribal youth voice, and a struggling traveler in the political and literary arena—stand beside the common people in every corner of the state, a natural intellectual question arises in the minds of many: Where does the source of this unwavering steadfastness, uncompromising fighting spirit, and patriotism truly lie?

Searching for the answer to this profound question, when I look back at my past days and deeply analyze the formative phase of my life, I realize that the mental strength I have today to choose the path of a greater nationalist leader or a far-reaching struggle for society had its intellectual, moral, and spiritual foundation laid by those revered teachers of mine. They were not ordinary teachers who confined textbook knowledge within the four walls of a school or college; they were the true intellectuals, economists, social thinkers, and path-finders of our society. It was they who first taught us to live proudly without hiding our root identity, to feel the dignity of our mother tongue and indigenous culture from the heart, and to dream of the economic self-reliance and comprehensive development of this backward region of ours.

In the process of development and intellectual liberation of every nation, the role of a teacher is not merely confined to the academic sphere; it is entirely historical and transformative. At a time when we did not know what the light of society was, those who handed us the pen and simultaneously instilled in our hearts the love for the nation, the mindset to rebel against injustice, and the initiation to move forward in the right direction—their inspiration will show us the way for a lifetime. At this complex crossroads of history, every word, every commitment, and every ideal of the massive battle we have undertaken to protect the distinctiveness of the North-East is drawn from the blessings and intellectual initiation of those gurus. Without their silent devotion and blessings, leading this greater nationalist movement today would never have been possible for me.

This struggle for the rights of the indigenous people of the North-East, the empowerment of the youth, the resolution of every problem faced by the student community, and the protection of our cultural distinctiveness will continue unabated. The inspiring teachings of our gurus, the blessings of our teachers, and the love and support of the general masses of the North-East are my highest strength. In this long and challenging journey, no power or obstacle can ever deviate us even slightly from our core goal and ideals. For the pride of the North-East, the rights of the indigenous people, and the secure preservation of our future generations, this struggle of ours will continue forever, and at every step of it, the ideals of my gurus will remain eternally vigilant.
