Nepal Flood: 404 Bodies Recovered as Search Operations Continue

Devastating flash flood that struck Nepal on August 26 has claimed hundreds of lives, with 404 bodies reportedly recovered so far as of 5 PM on Thursday, August 27.

The massive flood, which began in the Rasuwa district and swept downstream through the Bhotekoshi, Trishuli and Narayani river systems, caused widespread destruction across several districts. Homes, roads, bridges, hydropower infrastructure and other public facilities have been damaged or washed away.

Search and rescue operations are continuing across the affected areas, with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force deployed to trace missing people and recover bodies.

The number of casualties is expected to rise as rescue teams reach areas that remain difficult to access because of damaged roads and bridges. Hundreds of people are also reported missing or out of contact.
