Of note, in south India, it is commended on various dates in various states. In Tamil Nadu and Kerala, it is seen on the Margashirsha Amavasya (new moon day) while, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is seen on the tenth day, in the Krishna Paksha of Vaisakha month.
