The Park is a project of Telangana's Minister of Information Technology and Industries, K. T. Rama Rao. It was revealed on March 24, 2018. Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana State, has long been a significant industrial and economic center. In addition to information technology, one of the key industries in and surrounding Hyderabad is pharmaceuticals. Hyderabad has been dubbed the "Bulk Drug Capital of India" and the "Vaccine Capital of the World" because it produces more than 40% of the nation's bulk drugs. The project was given National Investment Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) status by the Indian government in December 2019 and has since been designated as a Project of National Importance. To carry out the project, a Special Purpose Vehicle called "Hyderabad Pharma City Ltd" has been established.
