Abhishek Banerjee once claimed that nobody could put a dent in the so-called “Diamond Harbour Model” and regularly delivered aggressive speeches against BJP workers and supporters. Today, after TMC’s defeat in Bengal, the same Abhishek Banerjee is facing public anger on the streets. In Sonarpur, angry locals raised “chor chor” slogans, hurled eggs and stones, and confronted him during his visit. Many are seeing these scenes as the eruption of 15 years of accumulated frustration, resentment, and anger against the previous regime.
