Fear often comes from what we don’t understand.

At Forest by the Hills, our Snake Awareness Workshop was an opportunity to learn, unlearn and look at these incredible creatures with a little more understanding.

From identifying different species to understanding their behaviour and learning how to respond when we encounter one, the session reminded us that coexistence begins with awareness.

Because living alongside the forest means learning to respect all its inhabitants.

“What is this this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare” the poem Leisure by W H Davies came to life this morning. And when I stared I saw how beautiful the sunrise looks in the lotus pond, smelt the divine parijat, saw a red dragonfly compete with the jatropha saying who has a deeper red ? I saw the canna Lillies calling to the sunbird, the Galphimia never missing a single day in its flowering, the heliconia strutting itself a bird of paradise, the sun playing hide and seek in the clouds and unveiling shades of green on the foliage and lawns, discovering that the best artefact on your wall is morning sunlight, and finally lalu, the shy canine taking a class on the art of chill.. that’s just another day at FBH..

Our latest bird survey at Forest by the Hills brought the community closer to the incredible avian life that calls this landscape home.
