India's Richest Cities -2023

Currently, in 2023, India has 11 metropolitian cities, and they are:

1.)Mumbai

The financial capital of India, Mumbai is the richest city in both GDP and net wealth terms with a GDP of 280 billion USD and a net wealth of 500 billion USD mainly from the IT and jewelery industries of the costal capital city.

2.)Delhi

India’s political capital, Delhi is the 2nd richest Indian city in terms of GDP and 3rd richest in terms of net wealth with a GDP of 240 billion USD and a net wealth of 400 billion USD mainly from the telecom industry there.

3.) Bengaluru
The IT capital and hub of India, Bengaluru is the 3rd richest Indian city in terms of GDP and net wealth and one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, Bengaluru has a GDP of 230 billion USD and a net wealth of 380 billion USD made mostly from all the IT offices and manufacturing plants inside the city.

4.) Gurgaon
One of India’s youngest cities, Gurgaon was only built in 1980 and is already the 4th richest city in terms of GDP and 6th richest in terms of net wealth with a GDP of 150 billion USD and a net wealth of 308 billion USD from the IT and tech manufacturing industries in the city.

5.) Chennai
Chennai is the 2nd richest city by net wealth and the 5th richest Indian city in terms of GDP with a GDP of 120 billion USD and a net wealth of 430 billion USD mostly from the IT offices and the manufacturing plants within the city.

6.) Hyderabad

Hyderabad is one of India’s fastest growing cities and is on rout to overtake Chennai and go back into the top 5 richest cities in terms of GDP, now, they have to 6th largest GDP and are the 5th in net wealth with a GDP of 115 billion USD and a net wealth of 325 billion USD mostly from the IT offices in the city.

7.) Noida

Noida, like Gurgaon, is a new city, being built in 1976, now, after just 47 years, has the 7th highest GDP of any Indian city and the 7th richest in terms of net wealth, Noida has a GDP of 108 billion USD and a net wealth of 290 billion USD from the IT offices and medical manufacturing plants in the city.

8.) Ahmedabad

The 2nd west Indian city on this list, Ahmedabad is the fastest growing major Indian city, they have the 8th higherst GDP and are the 8th richest in terms of net wealth with a GDP of 98 billion USD and a net wealth of 250 billion USD thanks to the jewelery and IT industries there.

9.) Kolkata

Kolkata still maintains it’s metro status barely with it’s GDP falling by 28 billion USD, that’s the whole GDP of Mizoram, yet, they still have the 9th largest GDP and the 10th richest by net wealth with a GDP of 84 billion USD and a net wealth of 225 billion USD thanks to the engineering industry there.

10.) Kochi

Though not the capital, Kochi is Kerala’s richest state with the 10 highest GDP and 9th highest net wealth in India with a GDP of 78 billion USD and a net wealth of 209 billion USD from the IT and agriculture industries in the city.

11.) Pune

The 11th metro of India, Pune has the 11th highest GDP of and the 11th highest net wealth of any Indian city with a GDP of 74 billion USD and a net wealth of 200 billion USD from the manufacturing industries in the city.

First consignment flagged off from BPCL Kochi Refinery

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), the second largest Indian Oil Marketing Company, a ‘Maharatna’ and a Fortune Global 500 Company, dispatched the first consignment of Butyl Acrylate from its Propylene Derivative Petrochemical (PDP) complex at Kochi Refinery today, 18 October 2021.

The first product consignment was flagged off by Shri Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta, Director (Finance), in the presence of Shri P V Ravitej, Executive Director (Refineries) I/c, Shri S Jena, Executive Director (Industrial & Commercial) and Shri Sanjay Khanna, Executive Director (Kochi Refinery).

Butyl Acrylate finds application in paints, coatings, plastic sheets, textiles, adhesives and sealants. To mark the inaugural dispatch and sale, Shri Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta handed over the first sale document and the certificate of quality to Shri Harish Lade, Vice President (Supply Chain), Asian Paints before flagging off the first product tanker.

On the inaugural day, consignments were also made to M/s Rossari Biotech Ltd, Bharuch, Chiripal Industries Ltd, Ahmedabad, Nikhil Adhesives Ltd, Bharuch, Visen Industries Ltd, Silvasa and Jesons Industries Ltd, Tiruvallur.

With the launch of Butyl Acrylate, BPCL Kochi Refinery has become the first Indian Refinery to produce five derivatives of propylene in world scale economic size capacity for the first time in the country. Bharat Petroleum is also the first to produce Butyl Acrylate, which was hitherto imported. These Niche Petrochemicals are being manufactured in the newly commissioned units of Bharat Petroleum’s Propylene Derivatives Petrochemical Complex at Kochi Refinery. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had dedicated the complex on February 14, 2021. The cost of setting up the complex was ₹6,000 crore approximately.

“By producing these niche petrochemicals, BPCL is facilitating huge import substitution and the initiative would be of great help to many industrial sectors,” said Shri Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta.
