We are excited to introduce the latest in roof treatment of waterproofing using HDPE. In general we all know that water storage tank is made from HDPE and is found on almost every civil structure today around the globe.
The technical properties of HDPE one of the best in related to food grade that is why almost all water Tanks are made from it.
It had not been used in treating roofs, terraces because there was no technology developed to carry out on site application of DHPE membrane.
We have developed our first generation ‘on site’ sheet making technology which delivers a homogeneous continuous sheet according to the shape of the structure.
Once the treatment of laying of HDPE sheet is done, it can be left like that or in the event of usage of the area for other activities ordinary mosaic tiles of 25 mm could be laid.
Other tiles like interlocking tiles similar to pavers, or PCC small slabs can be casted and can be laid upon the surface depending of the budget and taste of the owner.
The properties of HDPE are extremely stable , can withstand temperatures up to 160 degrees centigrade before deflection , does not react to acids , alkalis , or other chemicals also extremely resistant to UV rays due to the addition of carbon black from 1% to 3 % (Technical data sheet is will be provided for reference).
HDPE treated terrace would easily have a workable life of 70 years or more , most of the other treatment in the market are based of chemicals which are admixed in concrete/cement and have a 10 year workable life .
We would also like to point out that concrete itself is water tight or water proof to a certain extent but we still have leaky roofs around the globe owners incur huge amounts of money to repair them over and over again in small intervals of time.
This happens due to human error while casting the roof slab, at times it could be due to contaminated water, re****ed concrete, excessive water content in the concrete, bleeding of freshly casted mortar etc etc.
All the above is eradicated when we use HDPE as a waterproofing solution, it is extremely light, no mess while working, quick or minimum time needed , and a very long lasting life span .
When old and Heritage structures come into question the whole scenario changes because of the basic composition of material used in these structures are lime concreting/ Julchatt called in some areas.
The exposed surface of lime concrete once aged starts dusting therefore nothing applied will adhere to the surface thus a broken bond , normally tar based materials are used which break down in a short period of time due to UV rays and has to be redone over and over again .
HDPE is the perfect solution or Only solution for Old and heritage structure on a long term or permanent basis.
