From Baseline to Midline — The Journey Continues 🚀

A year ago, NYAS Research began Phase 1 (Baseline) of our study to understand how smartphones and digital services are shaping women's empowerment in rural Uttar Pradesh.

We’re excited to share that Phase 2 (Midline) has been successfully completed!

This time, beyond interviews, we introduced interactive games and activities with respondents — making the process more engaging, insightful, and human-centered. These interactions helped us capture deeper behavioral insights and real experiences in a more natural way.

Grateful to all the women who participated and shared their stories with us. This journey is not just about data, but about real impact and meaningful change. 💛

This week, NYAS Research successfully completed a qualitative research study to identify behavioural and structural barriers impacting Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (EIBF) and Exclusive Breastfeeding (EBF) practices from both provider and beneficiary perspectives.

Geographical Coverage: 5 Districts of Uttar Pradesh
Sample Size: 250 qualitative interviews
~125 Medical Service Providers (Gynaecologist, Paediatrician, Staff nurses, ASHAs, ANMs)
~125 Beneficiaries (mothers, fathers, mothers-in-law)

NYAS Research is currently conducting fieldwork in and as part of an ongoing mobility study.

Our team is engaging with auto drivers, e-rickshaw drivers, and passengers (including bus users) to understand travel patterns, challenges, and preferences.

Alongside interviews, we are also carrying out road audits and passenger counts to capture on-ground mobility insights.

We are pleased to share that NYAS Research has commenced an impactful collaboration with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) across four districts of Odisha — Angul, Bargarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar. The project spans 16 blocks and engages with over 4,600 farmers, aiming to support sustainable agricultural practices and evidence-based interventions.

As part of the project initiation, the Directors of NYAS Research conducted a field visit to oversee ground-level preparations, provide guidance to our field teams, and ensure the smooth launch of operations. The visit allowed for critical alignment with stakeholders and field staff to maintain data quality and operational efficiency from the outset.
