One of our beloved collegue is undergoing a very testing time with crisis blowing on his face one after another with increasing severity. His wife is suffering from acute liver failure and is in coma for the last 3-4 days and has been shifted to Apollo Hospital, Delhi in an attempt to get better treatment. Efforts to arrange for a liver donor have not materialized as yet. It may be added that her immediate relatives do not have matching blood groups and the children are underage. Her condition is declining and only way of hope to save her life is immediate liver transplant.
As we know, liver donation is seen as more complicated as compared to a kidney donation. However, as per the doctors, liver, being regenerative, can be donated by anyone of matching Blood Group (A & O in her case). A portion of the donor’s liver is sufficient to save the life of the recipient. In one of the recent reported cases, the donor was able to get back to normal routine in 20 days. In view of the same, we appeal to one and all to explore arranging a donor to save the life of Mrs. Triguna Tewari.
