OOR Experiences OOR Experiences is a sustainable living concept - a homestay and holiday home facility, tucked away in a quaint valley in between Kottayam & Pathanamthitta

Located in Mallappally, a small Central Travancore town in the Pathanamthitta district of the south Indian state of Kerala, OOR is a haven of comfort and calmness, providing one an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Mallappally stands on the State Highway 9, and has two railway stations (Tiruvalla and Changanacherry) within its 12 km radius. The nearest airport is Cochin, around 100 km away. A relatively new concept which assumes much relevance around the world, assisted living is the fastest growing long-term-care option for seniors now. This has gained significance around a decade back in Kerala. With most of the younger generation moving away for jobs, elderly and retired people in the Central Travancore region of Kerala face pressing needs: proper care takers, domestic help, quick access and assistance to hospitals, or even shopping for their daily needs – all these become ordeals for them. OOR was born as an answer to this challenge. OOR offers uniqueness and difference. Our promoters have a vast experience of working in the social service sector for over two decades. We have a strong team of thought leaders both national and international to guide us in executing strategies that support our goals. The construction of OOR is completely focused on being environment friendly. Traditional Kerala architecture involving various alternative building patterns and materials is a significant feature here. The entire structure is built taking into consideration the local climatic conditions and all natural factors to give the guests a very comfortable stay and to help them walk closer with nature. And yet, modern facilities needed for a comfortable living are theirs within their individual living space.

10 years of OOR Experiences.

As we step into our 10th year, we were honoured to welcome our long-time mentor, guide, and dear friend, Claudia Vilanek, back to OOR Experiences, Mallappally.

Claudia has been a constant pillar in our journey — helping shape, strengthen, and guide many of the values and experiences that define OOR today. Her work across organisations and communities, from social rehabilitation initiatives to institution-building, has touched countless lives across India and beyond.

In conversation with our founder, , she reflects on her time at OOR and the many treasures of Kerala we had the privilege of curating for her.

We remain deeply grateful for her presence, wisdom, and contribution to our journey. Here’s to many more years of friendship, learning, and shared purpose. ✨
