The Gidda (Giddha) is a celebratory folk dance for groups of young women and girls, which is popular amongst the traditional folks in the villages of Punjab. Performed by ladies, it is a very colorful and happening dance form followed by rhythmic clappings and folk songs sung by women in the background, often called Boliyaan. Interestingly, it is a “Females only” dance, and its counterpart male version is called “Bhangra”.

There lies a quite difference in the performance of Punjabi dances performed by females and males. Energetic Punjabi dance is quite varied in the form of energetic spirit and enthusiasm.
