3 qualities every successful entrepreneur shares:

1) Courage. You have to learn to embrace the unknowns and the uncertainties.

2) Perseverance. I think this one is the most important. There are so many difficult moments in entrepreneurship, but if you can overcome the hard days and years, you'll see progress.

3) Growth mindset. Mistakes are inevitable but what you can control is how you learn from them.

Lessons from my barber..... !!!!

I went for a haircut over the weekend. When I called Adil for an appointment, he informed me that he had moved to another setup. So I went there. Quite obviously, I asked him the reasons for his changing.

He mentioned that he was at the earlier place for 7 years. He used to do Mens cutting, but in the last year had done a course for Ladies also as he wanted to expand his horizon. But despite repeated requests to the Owner to let him do more, he never got the opportunity. "Agar growth naheen hai sir, toe kyaa faaeda ".

Lesson 1 - Train your people to do better. Give them the opportunity to evolve, but treat them so well that they do not want to leave.

He then went on to tell me that 'asking' for a raise is worthless. He requested for his annual raise so often, but was never taken seriously. The moment he resigned, he was immediately offered a much higher salary. He said that going forward, he would not waste time asking for a raise. If the Company would not be fair with him, he would resign and the raise would come automatically!! But what is the point of such a raise, he added.

Lesson 2 - Respect talent and give them their worth. Cost of replacement is always more expensive in totality.

We all think we do what we should. Think again !
