Residents of Hillside Apartments,
Dear All,
My salutations!
I was present at the Ganesh Festival organised by all of you on 09th September and I would like to congratulate you all on giving us an exilarating experience.
I come to Hillside often enough, for my son Capt. Dushyant Joshi lives there. It has always occurred to me that Hillside is a lovely residential complex that exudes the spirit of modern India in all its positive attributes: The Ganesh festival proved this and more : I will share with you, why.
Firstly, the Ganesh pooja pandal gave the visitor a warm welcome with its tastefully decorated mandap. The Ganesh moortis were serene and beckoned us to bow before them in peaceful prayer. One noted that members of the Hillside residences stood by gracefully handing out the teertha-prasad, which by the way, was very tasty.
The entertainment programme was not just entertainment, it showcased the skills and talent of the Hillside youngsters, be it the tabla and flute players, the kathak danseuse or the two young girls who compered the show. The group items were delightful, specially the "dhol-maro dhol" and the little boy's bhangra which in its charm and insousiance rivalled the professional bhangra that followed. The puppet show too was creatively conceptualised. I am sure that many Hillsiders must have worked hard to build this festival. I did hear that Ms.Suma was the "moving spirit" of the group items and the puppet show. My compliments to her.
And finally, a bow from my patriotic heart to the organisers for putting up a show that was representative of India as a whole. There was no need for words; one had to just watch the programme in its diversity to feel that sense of oneness so essential for a resurgent nation.
With best wishes,
(Mrs.) Sandhya Janorkar
