Devendra Fadnavis was speaking on Thursday at a function organized by the rural development department at Y B Chavan Centre to felicitate officials who had successfully implemented the PMAY scheme in Maharashtra. Mindspace Business Parks REIT (Mindspace REIT) has reported a dip of 32.72 percent in its net consolidated profit during the quarter ended September 30, 2022. The properties of defaulters who have not paid tax even after their properties were sealed will be auctioned. Most of these are commercial properties.

The PMC has around 4.5 lakh property tax defaulters. The tax department official from the PCMC said that there are over 8,000 such defaulters who have not paid taxes in the past 5-10 years and owe around Rs200 crore to the civic body.

Nilesh Deshmukh, head of the property tax department, PCMC, told TOI, "As per the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, we are going to start attachment action of movable properties such as car, TV or refrigerator starting this week. Already, we have served 1,000 attachment notices, following which around 800 have paid their taxes, while we have attached around 200 properties."
