MahaRERA Grants 4-Month Extension to Eligible Housing Projects Across Maharashtra

A major regulatory update for Maharashtra’s real estate sector: MahaRERA has granted an automatic four-month extension to eligible registered housing projects affected by disruptions arising from the ongoing West Asia situation, which has impacted construction materials, supply chains and project ex*****on.

Who is eligible?
The relief applies to projects whose original, revised or previously extended completion dates fall on or after February 28, 2026.

What does this mean?

Automatic 4-Month Extension: Eligible projects receive the extension without separate applications.
Force Majeure Relief: The West Asia situation has affected global supply chains and the availability of construction materials.
Relief for Developers: The additional time can help projects manage material shortages, logistics challenges and construction delays.
Homebuyer Protection: The extension does not automatically remove homebuyers’ existing rights and remedies under RERA.

Nagpur’s Central Jail Land Could Soon Become a New Urban Landmark.

A major transformation is being planned on Wardha Road, where the 118-acre Nagpur Central Jail site has received approval for redevelopment into a proposed Central Business District (C*D). MSIDC is exploring a holistic redevelopment model through PPP or BOT, with phased development planned for this prime location.

The proposed development could include:

World-class Health City & healthcare facilities
Commercial and business spaces
Residential & housing projects
Hospitality and hotel developments
Amusement & recreational areas
Central Park with existing greenery and lake preserved

The location adds another major advantage, with proximity to the Nagpur Metro corridor, Ajni Railway Station, Nagpur Railway Station and the airport. The site also has potential for additional development intensity, with 6.8 FSI subject to applicable UDCPR conditions.

Meanwhile, the existing jail is planned to shift to a separate site, with the new facility being developed as part of the broader relocation process. The relocation is still subject to land and planning decisions.

If developed as envisioned, this project could reshape Wardha Road’s commercial, residential and real-estate landscape — and add a completely new dimension to Nagpur’s urban growth.
