Sikkim has attained a notable milestone in judicial reforms, becoming the pioneering state in India to introduce a fully digital judiciary system, as announced by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a conclave convened in Gangtok on May 1, 2026.

This development signifies a substantial step towards modernizing the justice delivery system through technological integration. By leveraging digital tools such as e-filing, virtual hearings, and electronic case management, the Sikkim judiciary seeks to augment efficiency, mitigate delays, and enhance citizen accessibility.

The Namchi Police have successfully confiscated a substantial amount of contraband substance known as Winspasmo Forte Capsules. Acting on credible information, SHO/Namchi PS, PI Ashish Bhujel, accompanied by ASI Dawa Lhendup Sherpa, IC/Namthang OP, and the Namthang OP team, detained Rudra Prasad Dahal, a resident of Namthang, Namchi. A thorough search was conducted in the presence of SDM/Namthang, Shri Pravin Gautam, and independent witnesses, resulting in the recovery and seizure of a large quantity of the aforementioned contraband substance. A case has been registered at Namchi Police Station under relevant sections of the SADA, and further investigation is currently underway.

The Government of Sikkim has allocated supplementary portfolios to three members of the Council of Ministers, with the Governor, Om Prakash Mathur, formally issuing an order designating additional departmental duties. Released on March 12, 2026, this directive partially modifies a previous government order dated June 12, 2024, introducing specific departments to the ministers alongside their existing portfolios. According to the updated allocation, Shri Arun Kumar Upreti has assumed additional responsibility for the Panchayati Raj Department. Concurrently, Shri G. T.
