To Be On The Lines Of Famous Theme Parks
Navi Mumbai: Central Park, Kharghar, designed on the lines of London's Hyde Park, is under phase-II of development.
Last week, Cidco tendered the project to select a strategic partner to develop it as an ideal theme park.

The project, to be implemented on a build-operatetransfer (BOT) basis, will be handled by the operator to develop the park and ensure its financial viability . The park spreads across an area of 80 hectares or 200 acres.

Though phase-II involves work on 55 hectares, the entire park could be handed over for integrating the various features incorporated in phase-I after which the park was opened in 2010.

Mohan Ninawe, senior PRO (Cidco), told TOI on Fri day, “The park can have replicas of forts in Maharashtra, heritage buildings, fun rides and food courts among others. It will be developed on the lines of amusement parks like Essel World or Imagica“ The green space will be a perfect hangout for families and individuals with diverse interests in sports, debates, walks and various indulgences close to nature as in the famous and historic Hyde Park.

Besides, its location -opposite the green acres of golf course and the proposed BKC-II (corporate park, Kharghar) for which Cidco has floated the global tender last week to select an architect -will make the park a much sought-after venue.

Hyde Park has many features of being a getaway for families and is also a famous meeting centre. It is a signature address in London.

120-acre corporate park in Kharghar to become next BKC

One of the biggest commercial hubs in the megapolis and revenue crosser for Cidco, the urban sprwal of 120 hectares in Kharghar is slated to be the next BKC.
Cidco will be floating a global tender ­ expression of interest -today to invite signature architects with a minimum experience of 15 years to work on the master plan of a corporate park at Kharghar.

Stage II will witness fierce competition to get selected for designing, conceptualising and preparing the detailed project report, said senior PRO, Mohan Ninawe.

The signature commercial hub promises to be a resort like experience with a golf course and vast green acres. The corporate park will be close to the picturesque Pandavkada hills of Parsik hill in Kharghar.

The land in use at the corporate park is almost the double of that at BKC (63 hectares mixed land use), the commercial park is in close proximity to the upcoming second international airport.

Sources said with Devendra Fadnavis rolling out the MTHL project providing south Mumbai connectivity , it was the right time for Cidco to go ahead with the ambitious project. The commercial park got the nod of chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, who holds the urban development department portfolio.

Dinkar Samant, former chief architect and planner of Cidco, who had presented the project's approach paper and a detailed presentation in January 2016 to Sanjay Bhatia, the then MD, told TOI, “The board approved it in a week's time after the presentation. It's going to be the best and on par with some of the signature commercial parks abroad.“

The hub is planned as a major employment source besides making the city self-sufficient with global and Indian corporate headquarters.
