Dholera, located in Gujarat, India, has undergone significant transformation between 2016 and 2023, emerging as a model for smart city development. Here's an overview of its progress during this period:

2016: International Collaborations and Investment Agreements
To attract investments, the government organized international events and trade fairs showcasing Dholera's potential. This led to multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with international companies and investment firms, bringing in technical expertise and funding essential for establishing Dholera as an innovation and technology hub.

2018: Initiation of On-Ground Construction
The transition from planning to construction marked a pivotal year for Dholera. Key infrastructure projects commenced, including the Dholera International Airport and the Administrative and Business Centre for Dholera (ABCD Building), serving as the administrative nucleus for the project. Simultaneously, residential and commercial zones began development, attracting investors and residents seeking modern urban living. Infrastructure such as roads, water supply systems, and sewer networks were established, alongside green energy projects like a large-scale solar park.

2020: Enhancing Transportation and Connectivity
Dholera's focus shifted towards improving connectivity. The Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway project was initiated, aiming to facilitate the movement of goods and people between Ahmedabad and Dholera. Additionally, plans for a metro link connecting Dholera with Gandhinagar were set in motion, enhancing accessibility and fostering economic growth.

2022: Advancements in Renewable Energy
Emphasizing sustainability, Dholera launched an ambitious solar power plant project designed to generate renewable energy and position the city as a net-zero energy urban area. This initiative aligned with India's mission to increase renewable energy production, reduce emissions, and create eco-friendly cities, providing power for residential, commercial, and industrial uses while preserving the environment.

2023: Industrial and Commercial Expansion
By 2023, Dholera attracted industries across various sectors, including manufacturing, electronics, and automotive, establishing facilities within its industrial zone. This industrial influx created employment opportunities and spurred economic development in the region. Commercial developments, such as shopping centers, office spaces, and hotels, began to take shape, transforming Dholera into a vibrant ecosystem for living, working, and recreation.
