Because great architecture is never about constructing buildings.

There's an architect I can't stop thinking about. ✦

Louis Kahn once said —
"The Sun was not aware of its wonder until it struck the side of a building."

That line hit different the first time I read it.
It made me look at sunlight as if I'd never really seen it before.

He also said a brick once told him it wanted to be an arch.
Not a wall. Not a floor.
An arch.

That's the kind of listening I want to bring to every space I build. ✦

Standing inside Sharanam — watching light do its slow dance through the vault — I catch myself wondering…

What would Kahn say if he walked in here?

Would he ask about the physics?
Or would he just…
sit.
Smile.
Say nothing.

That stayed with me.

Because the best architecture projects do not begin with walls, materials, or layouts.

They begin with emotion.

Much like this child asking for a hidden room, many homeowners come to an architect carrying invisible dreams:
• a peaceful corner to breathe
• a space where children grow beautifully
• a home that feels calm after stressful days
• a resort that makes people emotionally reconnect
• a legacy space that stays meaningful for generations

And most of those dreams cannot be measured only in square feet.

Great architecture is not simply about constructing buildings.

It is about listening carefully enough to understand what people truly desire beneath the surface.

Because sometimes clients are not asking for:
“another bedroom”
or
“a bigger living room.”

From Tata Group’s transition after Lakmé to building a fashion brand made for Indian consumers — this journey is a powerful lesson in vision, identity, and long-term thinking.

Grateful to have designed the 40,000 sq. ft. WESTSIDE showroom in Trichy, later awarded as the Best Commercial Building of Trichy by Indian Concrete Institute & UltraTech Cement.
