Earth Day is a day dedicated to increasing awareness about our planet Earth and it's problems. On this day, more than 1 billion people participate in Earth Day activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world bringing about various policy agreements and sanctioning of acts such as Clear Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and many others.
Earth Day has gained significance over the years due to the fact that people have been witnessing shortage of food, sky rocketing goods & fuel prices, increased global warming resulting in changing weather patterns so on
Here are few little changes we can make in our daily lives to ensure we do our bit to preserve our Earth:
- Minimize the use of single use plastic in your daily life
- Ensure you vehicles are Emission levels are within regulations and car pool to school/office
- Opt for brands that are environment conscious in how they source raw materials, manufacturing practices, recycling & waste management etc
- Plant saplings on special days such as birthdays, anniversaries etc
- Recycle your waste and follow segregated waste disposal
- Opt for eBills and documents & minimize taking print outs
- Turn off fans/lights/appliances when not in use
- Use water judiciously
