lord datta even in his small age began to show his godly qualities,so many people followed him.HE is the god of tests,he used to test his disciples and devotees in different ways.Once he went into a river for his long meditation.While going into the water he asks his followers to wait on bank of the river.Some people even left the place after some days,some of his followers stayed there untill datta came out of the river and datta came out of river after some hundred years.After his long meditation he goes to his mother anasuya matha to take permission to go to sahyadhri parvatha..

Lord DATTATREYA is the incarnation of trinity(the brahma,vishnu,shiva) is born to the union of anasuya matha and athri maharshi.the reason for the birth of lord dattatreya is the great yaga for the child who has the qualities of brahma,vishnu and maheshwara.thus this desire of athri maharshi lead to the birth of LORD DATTATREYA.JAI GURU DATTA
