The International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on June 21, 2025, at the Adolescent Centre, OPD 201, SSH IMS, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The event was organized under the supervision of Prof. Sangeeta Rai, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, IMS BHU, and witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and healthcare professionals.
The theme for this year’s celebration — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” — emphasized the importance of yoga not only for personal well-being but also for global health and sustainable living. The session aimed to raise awareness about the positive impact of yoga on physical, mental, and emotional health.

Activities Conducted

Participants engaged in a series of yoga-related activities including:

Yoga asanas for flexibility, posture correction, and core strength

Breathing exercises (Pranayama) for stress relief and improved lung capacity

Therapeutic yogasana targeting stress management, weight control, and relief from body pain

Basic mindfulness techniques to promote relaxation and mental clarity.

These practices were designed to be beneficial and easy to incorporate into daily routines.

Ms. Tripti Maurya and Mr.Deepak kumar Certified Yoga Instructor from Nirvana Yoga Club, Varanasi led the participants through guided sessions, explaining the benefits and correct postures of each asana and breathing technique.
The event successfully fostered awareness among adolescents and staff about the significance of yoga in daily life. Participants reported feeling refreshed and more mindful by the end of the session. The event also reinforced the message that yoga is a powerful tool for preventive health and mental well-being.

On International Women's Day, a celebration and Vending Machine for Sanitary Napkins was inaugurated in Adolescent Centre (OPD-104), SS Hospital, IMS-BHU, enhancing access to menstrual hygiene products and ensuring dignity and ease for young women.

On 08th March, 2025, The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) - Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Adolescent Centre Collaboration With National Health Mission UP Govt. and MAMTA - HIMC, New Delhi celebrated International Women's Day with a focus on nutrition, menstrual hygiene, and HPV vaccination. The event was led by Prof. (Dr) Sangeeta Rai, Head of the Department of Obstetrics Gynaecology and Nodal Officer of the Adolescent Centre.

The celebration emphasized the importance of proper nutrition, menstrual hygiene management, and HPV vaccination for adolescent girls' overall health and well-being. Prof. Rai highlighted the significance of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer, empowering women to take charge of their health.

The event featured a recognition ceremony for participants of the Nukkad Natak, a performance art initiative raising awareness about women's issues. Hampers with essential hygiene products were distributed to women participants, symbolizing support for their health journeys.

The celebration was attended by notable figures, including Prof. (Dr) Mamta, Prof (Dr.) Tulika Rai, Dr. Shuchi Jain, Dr. Sakshi Agarwal, and dedicated staff Neha Chaudhary, Mazahir Abbas Haidri, Harsh Kumar Singh and participants.

Today, an impactful outreach activity was held under the guidance of Prof. Sangeeta Rai at Maharani Banaras Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Ramnagar, where Dr. Mamta led an insightful session on mental health, menstrual hygiene, and HPV awareness. A total of 191 participants attended the session, gaining valuable knowledge on maintaining menstrual hygiene and the importance of HPV vaccination. After the session, Dr. Mamta provided clinical advice to several girls who needed additional guidance.

An outreach activity was held at Radha Kishori Rajkiya Balika Inter College Ramnagar, Varanasi, where Dr. Shuchi Jain educated students on the importance of nutrition in daily life. She emphasized the need for a balanced diet, food diversity, and warned about the harmful effects of junk food on adolescent health. Dr.Shuchi recommended taking Albendazole every six months and discussed nutritional anemia, its causes, symptoms, and prevention. She also addressed PCOS/PCOD, menstrual cycles, hygiene management, and highlighted the importance of HPV vaccination* for adolescent health.

From August 1 to 7, 2024, the MCH Wing of IMS-BHU, in collaboration with the Adolescent Centre, OPD-104, is observing *World Breastfeeding Week with the theme "Closing the Gaps: Breastfeeding Support for All."* Inaugurated by Prof. Sangeeta Rai the event highlights the crucial importance of within the first hour of birth and its long-term health benefits. It strongly advocates for exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and continued breastfeeding with complementary foods up to two years or more. The initiative aims to enhance breastfeeding practices and provide comprehensive support to mothers, ensuring better health outcomes for children and families.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a successful yoga session was held under the guidance of Prof. Sangeeta Rai at Ruiya Ground, IMS-BHU. The session was led by yoga professional Dr. Geeta Bhatt, along with her student. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. S.N. Sankhwar, Director of IMS-BHU, as the chief guest. Several senior consultants, including Head of the Department of General Medicine Prof. L.P. Meena, also attended the event.

Approximately 200 participants, including Junior Residents (JR) and Senior Residents (SR) of IMS-BHU, took part in the yoga session. Among the attendees were Dr. Shikha Sachan, Dr. Jigyasa, and Dr. Sakshi Agarwal from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Special thanks to Dr. Mamta from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for playing an essential role in the success of this event.

On the occasion of World No To***co Day impactful session held at the Adolescent Centre, OPD-104, IMS-BHU. Dr. Shuchi Jain led an enlightening lecture centered around this year's theme, "Protecting children from to***co industry interference."

Dr. Shuchi passionately addressed the young audience, emphasizing the severe health consequences of to***co use, particularly its detrimental effects on pregnancy and overall well-being. She also highlighted various de-addiction strategies and government programs designed to curb substance abuse and support individuals in their journey towards a to***co-free life.

The session was further enriched by the participation of a dedicated team of junior and senior residents from the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. Their insights and support were invaluable in reinforcing the message of to***co prevention and health protection.
