🌊 Tonight the Summer Market in PESCARA, Aperitivo, Sunset… The Perfect Evening in Pescara

Looking to do something a bit different today, after the white sandy Beach how about exploring Pescara’s Summer Market along Corso Vittorio Emanuele II? Taking place from 5:00 pm until 11:00 pm, this special event transforms one of the city’s main shopping streets into a lively pedestrian market filled with around 40 stalls selling handmade crafts, vintage treasures, artisan products, local food, and regional specialities. With the surrounding shops also staying open late, it’s the perfect combination of shopping, food, and a wonderful Italian summer atmosphere.

🍰 Be sure to look out for the delicious Tiramisù Lovers stand, where you can sample award-winning tiramisù, and don’t miss the chance to try Fregne Fritte—a traditional Abruzzese sweet pastry, freshly prepared and served hot. You’ll also find handmade jewellery, locally produced olive oil, artisan ceramics, vintage collectibles, leather goods, and plenty of unique gifts that make wonderful souvenirs to take home.

🚗 The market is only around 30 minutes from Abruzzo Borgo. We recommend arriving before 6:00 pm, as parking is much easier earlier in the evening. Good options include the car parks around Piazza della Rinascita (Piazza Salotto), the Area di Risulta beside Pescara Centrale railway station, or one of the nearby underground car parks. From there, it’s just a short walk to the market and only a few more minutes to the beach.

💡 Our insight: Many visitors head straight for the beach in the evening, but some of the most memorable experiences in Abruzzo happen in its town centres. Events like this give you the chance to browse local stalls, chat with artisans, sample regional flavours, and enjoy the relaxed pace of Italian summer life.

❤️ Our opinion: We’d make an evening of it. Browse the market, treat yourself to something handmade, enjoy an aperitivo or dinner in one of Pescara’s many restaurants, and finish with a sunset stroll along the Adriatic seafront. It’s a simple but authentic way to experience Abruzzo like a local.

🍬 A Famous Market… A Sweet Secret… And One of Abruzzo’s Most Beautiful Towns!

Every Wednesday morning, Piazza Garibaldi in Sulmona comes alive with its traditional weekly market. Wander through colourful stalls selling fresh local fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses, cured meats, flowers, clothing, handmade goods and regional specialities.

🍬 Don’t Miss the Confetti Museum! After exploring the market, make time to visit Sulmona’s famous Confetti Museum, where you’ll discover the fascinating history behind Italy’s most celebrated sugared almonds. Sulmona has been producing confetti for centuries and is considered the heart of this sweet tradition. Inside the museum, you’ll see historic equipment, learn how these colourful treats are made, admire beautiful confetti flower arrangements and, of course, enjoy a tasting. It’s a unique experience that offers a delicious insight into one of Abruzzo’s most iconic traditions.

Afterwards, take time to stroll beneath Sulmona’s magnificent medieval aqueduct and relax with a coffee in one of the lively piazzas while soaking up the atmosphere of this historic town.

💡 Our insight: Markets like this aren’t just for shopping—they’re one of the best ways to experience authentic Italian life. You’ll hear the local dialect, meet passionate local producers and discover flavours, traditions and stories that you simply won’t find in a supermarket.

❤️ Our opinion: If we had to recommend just one midweek outing in Abruzzo, the Sulmona market would be high on the list. Combining a vibrant local market, the fascinating Confetti Museum and one of Italy’s most elegant historic centres makes it a perfect day out and a wonderful way to experience the real Abruzzo.

✨ Tonight is your last chance to experience one of Pescara’s most spectacular summer traditions! 🎆🌊

If you’re anywhere near Pescara this evening, don’t miss the final night of the Festa di Sant’Andrea – a celebration that has honoured the city’s fishing heritage for well over 150 years. The seafront comes alive with food stalls, music, fairground rides and thousands of people soaking up the incredible atmosphere. The festival traditionally ends with a breathtaking midnight fireworks display over the Adriatic Sea, creating one of the most memorable nights of the Abruzzo summer. (Tu Abruzzo⁠)

💡 Our insight: The best memories of Italy often aren’t made in famous tourist attractions—they’re made at local festivals where you experience traditions that have been passed down through generations.
