A LITTLE TIP TO KEEP YOUR WORKSPACE TIDY!

Here’s a simple little tip I use when wallpapering.

Rather than leaving your offcuts lying around, simply fold them up as you go.

Not only does it keep your workspace tidy, but it also helps reduce the risk of getting wallpaper paste on surfaces where you don’t want it!

Nothing groundbreaking, but sometimes it’s the simplest little tips that make a difference.

WALLPAPERING REVEALS… WITH A LITTLE TWIST!

I don’t have many videos of me wallpapering reveals, but this one has to be one of my favourites!

It’s a little unusual, but that’s what makes wallpapering interesting. Sometimes you’ve got to think outside the box to get that pattern looking just right!

WHO LOVES A MURAL?
Mural wallpapers seem to be getting more and more popular, and I seem to be hanging loads of them lately.

They’re a great way to make a real feature of a room and add something a little bit different.

Personally, I love hanging them… especially when there’s a bit of a challenge involved

What about you — love a mural or would you rather stick with traditional wallpaper?

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A COLOUR DRENCH CAN MAKE!

A little before & after from this room…

We went for a full colour drench on this one, taking the same colour across the walls, ceiling and woodwork.

I know colour drenching isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I really like how it completely changes the feel of a room and brings everything together.

WORKING WITH REVERSE HANG WALLPAPER?

Here’s a really simple little tip that might just make life a bit easier.

When you’re working with a reverse hang wallpaper, keeping track of which way each length needs to go can soon get confusing… especially once you get into a rhythm.

This is what I do to keep myself right.

Nothing groundbreaking, just one of those simple little things that might help someone.

As always, this is aimed at anyone who might not know.

Do you do something similar, or have you got your own way of keeping track?

DOES A RADIATOR REALLY NEED THIS?

Probably not… but me being me, I just like to give things that little bit more protection.

I’ve painted this radiator in a dark colour, and once everything was fully dry I decided to go one step further and give it an extra protective coat of varnish.

In the reel I explain why I do it, show you how I apply it, and of course the finished result.

It’s one of those little extra steps that doesn’t take long, but for me, it’s all about giving the customer the best and most durable finish I can.

So, question for everyone…

Would you varnish a painted radiator for that extra protection?

Or am I just being Gary again?

WHO STILL USES ONE OF THESE?

With lasers being the go-to these days, does the good old plumb bob still have a place?

I still use mine, particularly above doorways, where sometimes the simplest bit of kit just does the job.

I’m certainly not against modern technology — I use a laser regularly — but I’ll still reach for a spirit level from time to time as well.

For me, it’s not about old school or new school. It’s about using the right tool for the job.

So, decorators or trades … plumb bob, spirit level or laser?

And for the younger ones in the trade… have you ever actually used a plumb bob?

HOW DO YOU PASTE YOUR WALLPAPER?
A couple of weeks ago someone asked me how I go about pasting wallpaper. I knew I had a video somewhere but couldn’t find it at the time!

Sorry, I can’t remember who asked … but here it is.

This is my method of pasting wallpaper. I know we all have our own little ways of doing things, and I’m certainly not saying mine is the only way — it’s just the method that works for me.

As always, these videos are mainly aimed at people who don’t know or are still learning, rather than teaching experienced decorators how to do their job.
