It is with great pleasure that Enrico Dini and Mario Nuzzolese receive the Global Design Awards 2021.
Working together, with the valuable advice given to us by Prof. Francesco Cafaro, we have developed a simple and innovative solution for foundations that I am sure will find many emulators in applications in similar geotechnical contexts in the years to come.
50 Artificial reefs and 50 oyster reefs deployed in the bay of Hong Kong. After 6 months monitoring they did’t sink into the mud and that thanks to a brilliant simple and ecologic foundation method. Well done.
The HKDA Hong Kong Designers Association gave us an opportunity to expand our horizons and introduce our project to the larger community.

My last work as a reef designer together my colleague, partner and friend Dr. Mario Nuzzolese commissioned to Kat Yue by the Airport Authority of Hong Kong : 50 Artificial reefs and 50 oyster reefs deployed in the bay . After 6 months monitoring the reefs did’t sink into the mud and that thanks to a brilliant , simple and ecologic foundation method. Well done. Apparently the method will be now extended to 2400 hectars.
