Just 30 minutes from our home, on the other side of Catania, is the Bay of Catania, a marine protected reserve, which hosts 8 different species of cetaceans- whales and dolphins.

You can enjoy a Dolphin launch – on a boat into the Bay of Catania with well renown, experienced professionals from an organization called Marecamp. The professionals include a skilled skipper and a qualified marine biologist.

Viewing Volcano – Mount Etna - is only 30 to 45 minutes from the home.

She has many moods from quiet and serene to very excited, effervescent explosions; from many coloured forests her slopes in autumn, to skiing and building snowmen in winter.

Mount Etna is the highest volcano in Europe at 3350m a.b.s.l. and extends for 1250 km. It is considered to be the most active volcanoes in the world.

If you would like to safely explore her craters and get to the summit you can take a 45-minute drive to a height of 1923m, from where you can transfer to Nicolosi Nord-Rifugio Sapienza by means of a modern cableway. In this way, you reach an altitude of 2500m and then transfer to special Mercedez-Benz Unimag to explore authorized southern and easter craters, with breath-taking and unbelievable panoramic views.

You can get as close to the active volcano as security allows. At all times with an experienced volcano and mountain guide expert in attendance.
This is one of the most life-changing and memorable adventures you will ever encounter.

Hi how was your new year? We had a celebration, despite covid, with great Sicilian friends who took an apartment at the hotel next door to where we live for the night.

Celebrations started with a great Sicilian seafood barbeque, playing cards, and then out onto the beach to experience the full moon rising, Mount Etna erupting furiously and glowing red candle sticks in the dark, fireworks everywhere and a feet-warming bonfire.

The next day run on the beach with warm sunshine, a refreshing swim in the sea and then a lunch of fish, pistaccio polpetto and various kinds of spadata...the food just kept on coming

Lunch extended into another sunset and bonfire on the beach.

What an amazing energy to enter into 2021

What we love but this home is the closeness to the beach, and then it's centrality, 10 min from Catania airport, 15 min from Catania city, and then less than an hour from Syracuse, Taormina, Mount Etna, Ragusa etc.

To fly to Europe, the UK, or even Malta is very inexpensive and quick, you can even do Rome or Venice in a day - smile, and then there are the ferries to France, Italy and Sardinia.
