Learning the quiet language of Sicilian embroidery.
Our guests from Canada, as part of a project by CreativeItaly, spent the week learning sfilato siciliano and punto chiaramontano with master embroiderer Rosanna Garofalo, whose work is included in Sicily’s Register of Intangible Heritage — traditional techniques passed down through generations.
In the shade of the old house, among its gardens and olive trees, the villa became the setting for an ancient Sicilian craft to be practiced, shared and rediscovered.
